The Blue Dolphin does everything seafood, but manages not to limit itself to just seafood. They are equally proficient at creating delicious soups, salads, pasta or rice dishes, chicken, veal, and heck – even dessert! This small seafood chain may have made a name for itself by providing excellent seafood at an affordable price, but that doesn't mean it can't knock your socks off with luxury food items such as oysters or lobster tails.

The Blue Dolphin is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Every Blue Dolphin restaurant has a well-stocked bar with delicious cocktails and craft beers, open from 11 am to 11 pm daily.

The Blue Dolphin was founded in 1975 and has since slowly expanded to multiple restaurants around the Maryland area. Its owner and founders Brian and Karen McCann have strived to create a warm and welcoming environment that is both convenient and energetic, and they've succeeded. The menu is rich with modern American cuisine that doesn't neglect classic styles, flavors, and cuisines of the countries that have inspired the delicious Baltimore style of cooking.

When is the Blue Dolphin open?

The Blue Dolphin is open 7 days a week for your enjoyment. Though, while they may be open every day, their opening times do tend to vary slightly, which can be a little confusing. Ordinarily, they would be open from 11 am until 11 pm, except Saturdays when they stay open a little later than 11:30 pm. However, due to Covid-19 and its effect on the hospitality industry, many of their restaurants open from 11 am and close at 9 pm. There is no hard and fast rule, so you may need to check your local restaurants' Google profiles to see their updated opening times.

Is the Blue Dolphin "fancy"?

The Blue Dolphin is a nice restaurant, make no mistake. But, there is no dress code so to speak, and the atmosphere is pretty laid back. Brian and Karen intended for the bar and grill to be welcoming and relaxed, not uptight, so there is little fear of coming underdressed and sticking out like a sore thumb. A word of advice, though. While it is relaxed, it is very much a shoes and shirt place, not sandals and a bare chest. Just because you are eating excellent food does not mean you need to be wearing stuffy clothing, but you aren't on the beach either!

Are there options for people who don't like seafood?

Seafood isn't for everyone, and that's completely fine! Not everyone likes lobster and crab, some people prefer chicken or beef, and the Blue Dolphin is more than happy to accommodate. Just because they specialize in seafood does not mean that their other food items are any less impressive. From Veal Cordon Bleu to New York Strip, there is bound to be something to satisfy even the pickiest of meat eaters out there. Blue Dolphins' baby back ribs are often a fan favorite and splendid value for money if you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty saucy.

Your server will be able to point you in the direction of the best dishes for someone averse to the flavors of the sea.

Does the Blue Dolphin Bar do a happy hour?

Absolutely they do! Happy hour at the Blue Dolphin is unfortunately a bar-only event. So, no, you can't order your lobster tails half-price. Happy hour lasts from 3 pm to 7 pm and is available every weekday (Monday to Friday). The drinks that are on offer during happy hour vary depending on what is available at the time. The Blue Dolphin team has made a concerted effort to treat drinks the same as food, in that only the freshest and highest-quality ingredients are used to maximize flavor. This means you will often find seasonal cocktails on the happy hour menu, as well as fan-favorite draft beers. Oh, and wine is always half-price during happy hour (if you buy the whole bottle!)

Are there good vegetarian options at the Blue Dolphin?

Not everyone eats meat or fish, and there is no reason that those individuals should not have just as amazing a time as everyone else. That's why the Blue Dolphin Seafood Bar and Grill has an excellent selection of vegetarian options such as soups, salads, pasta dishes, and of course outstanding desserts to choose from. While the Blue Dolphin does an outstanding job of providing a variety of dishes to suit everyone's dietary needs, the menu cannot possibly hold all the details necessary about every dish regarding every ingredient. Absolutely, do not be afraid to speak to your server or another member of staff about your dietary requirements and what the kitchen can do for you.

Are kids welcome at the Blue Dolphin?

Children are welcome in the restaurant area of the Blue Dolphin, so long as they are supervised by a parent or a guardian. It is important to remember that the Blue Dolphin is a BAR as well as a grill, so there will be plenty of alcohol around as well as the potential for tipsy adults! There is no kid's menu at the Blue Dolphin, and that should tell you what you need to know about the appropriate age of children accompanying you. It is up to your discretion whether your child is mature enough to visit the Blue Dolphin, if you have any questions, though, you can, of course, use the contact information provided in the link above.
