Prepping for my first visit to a family-owned business established back in 1968, Braum's Ice Cream & Dairy Store, I was excited. More commonly known as "Braum's", they've been in the game of offering freshly made ice cream for over 50 years; quite impressive! Due to their strict quality control policy that only allows franchise locations to stay within a 300-mile radius from their main dairy farm herd in Tuttle, Oklahoma, their presence is currently limited to just five states, namely Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri.

All of its dairy products make a short trip from their herds and facilities, located no more than 300 miles away from any of their restaurant locations, to the consumer. This means the freshest dairy products are literally at your fingertips! Plus, their control over the food their herd consumes ensures the freshest, grade-A2 dairy - which is touted as easier on the digestive tract for those with lactose-related issues.

Flavorful, Not Spicy

Though a couple of their items, like the Jalapeño Pepper jack Cheeseburger, have a bit of a kick, most of their menu maintains a pleasant flavor without any spicy surprises. Ordering – In-Store or Online

To place an order, all you have to do is choose what you'd like, walk up to the counter, place your order with the friendly staff, pay up and then wait for your meal. You can dine inside in one of their cozy booths or take your meal elsewhere. You can also place an order online or through the Braum's app for pick-up convenience.

For the Plant-Eaters

Although their focus is primarily on meat products such as hamburgers and chicken sandwiches, Braum's does offer a few choices for vegetarians. They've got salads, hash browns, a vegetarian omelet bagel, fruit, and yogurt swirl, and even their mouth-watering cinnamon rolls. For vegans, however, the options are understandably limited due to the store's focus on dairy items. They do have sorbets, fruits, vegetables, and salads for those on a vegan diet.
