My Visiting Experience at Newk's
When I walked into Newk's the other day, I was excited by the prospect of delving into their authentic family recipes. At Newk's, you can tell the pizzas, salads, and sandwiches aren't just food- they are treasures passed down through the Newcomb family for generations. Their menu is teeming with unique, homemade items, despite their rebranding back in 2013.
The real star for me was the Newk's Q chicken sandwich; I found out it's quite the fan favorite. Tucked away in its decadent layers is a white barbecue sauce unlike anything I've tasted before. It's no wonder that people rave about it - you simply can't replicate that taste anywhere else.

One thing I noticed early on is the array of recognition Newk's has received over the years. Since 2008, it seems like every food magazine and association has fallen head over heels for their food and services, and with good reason. They've been named in:

When I heard about their Newk's Cares initiative started by Lori Newcomb, Chris’s wife, I was deeply inspired. Creating this campaign in the wake of her ovarian cancer diagnosis, Newk's Cares has raised around $1.6 million for ovarian cancer research. This commitment to serving good food and doing good in the world truly sets Newk’s apart!
And at the end of the day, that's what Newk's is all about. From their mission statement of providing a delightful dining experience down to their extensive, diverse menu, Newk's truly delivered on its promise.

Newk's currently operates in 13 states across the good ol' USA. I visited the outlet in my hometown of Alabama, and let me just say, what an experience!
What Stands Out at Newk's?
While devouring my Newk's Q, here are a few things I discovered that make Newk's so special:
- They use only fresh ingredients and stick to their family's original recipes
- They've launched a successful fundraising campaign battling cancer
- The entire ambiance screams of warmth and family
- Not to mention, they do not use a microwave or fryer for any food preparation
The standout items at Newk's are their sandwiches, soups, salads, and pizzas. The sandwiches are always served on soft, warm Parisian bread, complete with your choice of add-ons. But they also have a range of 11 tempting salads and thin crust pizzas that won't leave you feeling bloated or heavy.
Ordering Food at Newk's
When you walk in, you see two counters/lines where you place your order. But the real show-stopper is the gourmet pickles station, and from your table, the full view of their open-concept kitchen. Also, they are quite efficient- an employee brings your food directly to your table once it's ready. While there aren’t any drive-thru options at present, their Fort Smith, Arkansas location started experimenting with one just last month!
From vegetarian-friendly to kid-approved, Newk's is all about inclusivity. The kid's items are both nutritious and fun, with six different variants of pizza, toasted sandwiches, and mac & cheese.

While their opening hours might vary by location, most Newk's I know remain open from 11 am until 9 pm.

Newk's has some surprisingly healthy options on their menu; They offer different categories based on dietary needs - under 600 calories, paleo-friendly, keto-friendly, vegetarian-friendly, and gluten-friendly. They also have a robust catering service for all kinds of needs: meetings, conferences, and parties of any size.
