I had the opportunity to experience lunch at Carolina Ale House recently. The atmosphere was buzzing, and the restaurants have a versatility to them that is refreshing; open for both lunch and dinner, many of them also serve late into the night. What got my attention was their famous beer-battered fries and a wide selection of classic pub foods.
The brand Carolina Ale House was conceived on a stop-off in London while Lou Moshakos, the company's founder, was returning from a family holiday. Lou was drawn to the concept of a traditional English ale house, and seizing on his inspiration, decided to introduce this concept back home. Opening the first Carolina Ale House in 1999, he gifted North Carolina a unique dining experience.

The Carolina Ale House gets all the points for their diverse range of food. The menu is extensive and offers a variety of dishes including:
- Appetizers and shareables

- Tacos
- Fries and Tots
- Soups
- Salads

I tried their beer-battered cheese curds and they were heavenly! Let's not forget the range of burgers served with their famous beer-battered fries. And for salad lovers, they've got five different options including a Caesar Salad. Did I mention the extensive beverages and alcohol menu they boast of?
On top of their main courses, they even have a desserts menu which includes options like Macked out doughnuts, Strawberry Cheesecake, Decadent Chocolate Layer Cake... just the thought is making me hungry!
Have kids along on your visit?
Yes, the Carolina Ale House menu also includes a small selection of children’s meals. I was super impressed with how they managed to create dishes with fresh ingredients, which are not only incredibly tasty but are also beneficial for a child's health. The children's menu includes the following:
- Chicken tenders
- Chicken wings
- Cheese Quesadilla
- BBQ Chicken breast
- Grilled cheese sandwich
- Pizza
- Cheese burger
They’ve created these delightful smaller-sized meals as part of their children’s menu, keeping in mind the dietary needs and taste preferences of the kids. Do keep in mind though, the items on the children’s menu may vary between stores, so be sure to check with your local restaurant.
To add to the joyous dining experience, every Tuesday night at Carolina Ale House is Kids Night. Kids aged 10 & under can eat for $0.99 from 5pm, with any purchase of an entree. Remember to confirm with your local restaurant on the running of this promotion.
Does Carolina Ale House serve alcohol?
Another thing that caught my attention was their wide range of alcohol. I mean, who'd say no to white, red and rose wine! They also serve a good range of signature cocktails including the Vodka Mule’s, Bloody Mary, and Gin Bramble. If you’re in the mood for a modern twist, do try the Watermelon Margarita cocktail.
What about vegetarians?
Fret not, my vegetarian friends! The Carolina Ale House menu adapts a fair section for vegetarians. Plus, their plant-based menu is impressive with plant-based 'chicken' zingers, plant-based buffalo 'chicken' sandwich and plant-based 'chicken' salad.
