My taste buds still remember the lip-smacking flavours from my visit to Fatburger. It isn't just an ordinary fast food joint you may stumble across at every nook and corner; it is an American chain renowned for burgers, wings, fries, and milkshakes.
Being a globetrotter, seeing a Fatburger outlet tucked away in foreign lands didn't surprise me. Known officially as Fatburger North America Inc., this place has spread its wings far and wide, offering burger lovers a delightful experience in 19 countries worldwide, including Canada, China, the UK, Fiji, Indonesia, and Japan. As of 2021, there are 182 locations serving scrumptious meals in different parts of the globe.
The roots of Fatburger can be traced back to Los Angeles, where the first restaurant was opened in 1947. Named "Mr. Fatburger" by Lovie Yancey, it was a tender homage to her boyfriend. However, in 1952, "Mr." was dropped from the brand name, leading to the decades-long glorious run of "Fatburger". This burger joint continued to win hearts in Western US before expanding to the rest of North America in the 1990s. Now, if you're curious about its headquarters, they have nestled in Beverly Hills, California since 2023.
The flavourful burgers soaked in oodles of juiciness still create an irresistible lure when I pass a Fatburger outlet. But if you think it's a one-trick pony, let me tell you they serve a platter filled with everything classic and American—chicken wings, fries, milkshakes, and sandwiches. Craving for a bite? Why Fatburger Stands Out?
It’s not every day you walk into a fast-food joint that specializes in made-to-order servings. That’s the specialty of Fatburger! Their famous tagline: "The Last Great Hamburger Stand,” resonates with their unwavering commitment to delivering tasty, great-value, and authentic burgers.
Who wouldn't want to craft their own burger? I still remember the joy of adding special toppings like vegan cheese, chili, and egg to make my own variety. And the fun part—you can choose from four different sizes, the biggest weighing a humongous 1.5 pounds.
No foodie can resist a place that caters to every palate, every preference. Whether you are a vegetarian or even a vegan, Fatburger has an option for you. And not to forget, they also serve amazing gluten-free buns!
The Fatburger menu is kept simple, mainly centering on their scintillating range of burgers. However, you’ll also find:
- Classic Sandwiches
- Buffalo's Express Wings
- Sides and More
- Shakes
- Drinks
- Kid's Meals
When it comes to popular choices, customers cannot resist ‘The Fatburger’. It acts as a magnet, pulling burger aficionados in again and again. And the customizability is a big plus—you can choose how you want your burger.
Owned by vegetarians or vegans? Fatburger was the first fast food chain to introduce ‘The Impossible Burger’. Made of a plant-based patty, it also has vegan cheese, tomato, and lettuce, apart from other vegan toppings. They even offer a vegetarian-friendly Veggie Burger, which contains real cheese and mayo. Other vegan delights include potato and sweet potato fries, along with tempting vegan milkshakes in four flavors— vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, and Maui-Banana.
Of course, there's something for the young lads as well. The Kid's menu serves three smaller portion options, each coming with fries and a drink.
Fatburger served both lunch and dinner, generally opening around 10-11 am till 10 pm or 11 pm. And guess what? You don't even have to step out of your house to savor their delicacies—they offer delivery too!
What I Loved:
- The experience of preparing your own burger and customizing it was liberating!
- Quality, fresh and tasty food that's prepared only after you place the order.
- Impressive range of vegan and vegetarian options.
- Kudos to Fatburger for being a family-friendly respite!
What Could be Better:
- Operating hours may not accommodate early birds or late-night cravings.
- Though burgers are a specialty, the variety in other food items could be improved.
