I recently paid a visit to the sports entertainment complex, Topgolf. Now, this place isn't just any leisure spot; it combines the fun of electronic golf games with the enjoyment of food and drinks all in one venue. They have distinctly carved a niche as a party venue, with their restaurant serving customers from breakfast until dinner. You may be wondering, what even is Topgolf? Well, it's an innovative golf-driving range that has seamlessly integrated food and beverage into the experience, which makes it unmatched in the realm of sports entertainment. The Jolliffe brothers, Steve and Dave, avid golfers and co-founders, utilized emerging microchip technology in 2000 to give golf balls a modern twist. The inspiration behind Topgolf is akin to the concept of a bowling alley. Customers pay to play games of golf and are also given the opportunity to order food and drinks. Despite having a general menu, each Topgolf venue may offer distinct dishes depending on the location and the chef in charge. The clever culinary approach offers a fusion of classic American comfort Food with a touch of local specialties and seasonal delights. During my visit, I learned that every Topgolf location features an executive chef. You can sense the passion that goes into ensuring that every item on the menu is of the highest quality, carefully prepared by well-trained chefs. It's worth noting that the first Topgolf location was opened in London back in 2000, and it has since expanded to more than 50 venues across the United States and globally, thanks to additional investments. Currently, the headquarters is situated in the vibrant city of Dallas, Texas, USA.
But what sets Topgolf apart from ordinary sports bars? Well, Topgolf is essentially a melting pot of food, drinks, games, and a party atmosphere. This party vibe encourages customers to relax, have fun, and enjoy the range of electronic golf games with their friends or family. Each 'bay' can accommodate a group of up to 8, so the more the merrier. Plus, Topgolf locations are scattered all over the world – from domestically in the US, to the UK, Germany, Thailand, Indonesia, the UAE, Australia, Colombia, and even China – and the menu items vary uniquely in each location. In terms of the Topgolf Menu, one can find a wide range of American comfort food. Personally, I found myself gravitating towards the burgers, sliders, and flatbreads which seems to be a staple in all their locations. Apart from these, there are sharable appetizers, breakfast and brunch options, a variety of sandwiches and salads, desserts and a diverse drinks menu including wines, spirits, beers and cocktails to choose from. But, let me be candid, the hummus and nachos were a particularly delightful starter! Their burger menu, which boasts of a signature blend of Angus ground chuck, short rib, and brisket, leaves your taste buds with a burst of flavor – memorable indeed. On top of that, they have an affordable kids' menu, making sure they cater to all ages. They also offer vegetarian menu notwithstanding no specific vegan menu. However, they accommodate special requests for food allergies and preferences. But wait until you hear about my favorite part. The Injectable Donut Holes. These donut balls dusted with cinnamon sugar and the possibility of injecting them with a choice from different flavors like chocolate, Bavarian cream, and raspberry jelly, were an absolute treat. Topgolf's hours of operation do vary depending on the location, but normally they open between 9 and 10 am to late into the night till around 1 or 2 am. The best part is that Topgolf remains operational regardless of weather conditions, ensuring you can enjoy your golf games and meals anytime. If you aren't able to make it in, fret not, most Topgolf locations do offer delivery and takeout. Speaking of which, sounds like a great evening plan for tonight, huh?
