On my recent visit to Longhorn Steakhouse, I found myself immersed in a gastronomic wonderland, open for both lunch and dinner. Much to my surprise, their menu, marked with the shortcode
As I sat at my table, savoring my meal, I became curious about the restaurant's origins. Interestingly, Longhorn Steakhouse began its journey in 1981, when two friends George McKerrow Jr and Brian, decided to open a restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. A sudden snowstorm swelled their customer base as stranded commuters sought refuge and cheap food. Among them was a journalist, whose glowing column about the restaurant helped boost their visibility. A pretty neat turn of events, wouldn't you say?
Frankly, if I hadn’t known, I would've just assumed they were a local joint. But no, there are 559 Longhorn Steakhouse restaurants across the United States, including Puerto Rico and Guam. They even have branches across Florida, Georgia, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Virginia, and New Jersey! For a comprehensive list of branches and delivery options, you can head over to their website at https://www.longhornsteakhouse.com/home
Let's talk Steak, shall we?
Known for their diverse and enticing range of steaks, choosing one can be quite the conundrum at Longhorn Steakhouse. During my visit, I took the plunge and tried their Flo's Filet steak- a tender centre-cut filet that was mouth-wateringly good. They have 10 varieties of steak on the menu, each cooked to your liking, from rare to well done, and served with sides and hand-chopped salads.
For the more venturesome, Grill Master Combos are the way to go. Imagine pairing a high-quality steak with seafood like Grilled Shrimp or Lobster tail. Decadence, much?
Is it all steaks and no play?
Contrary to what you might believe, Longhorn Steakhouse is not just about steaks. They offer a variety of appetizers, like the incredibly addictive Firecracker Chicken Wraps and chicken wings. Plus, they’ve got baby back ribs, chicken, seafood, burgers, sandwiches and a small-but-aces dessert menu, just to change things up a bit.
Kids? They are in for a treat too!
The kid's menu at Longhorn Steakhouse is pretty comprehensive too. From sirloin steak, cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, grilled chicken, to mac and cheese- it caters to the tiny taste buds as well. All meals come with a side and a child’s drink. You know what’s the best part? The side options aren't just fries, but also healthier choices like seasoned rice and crispy Brussels sprouts!
Any room for vegetarians?
While not the ideal place for vegetarians, Longhorn Steakhouse does have limited options like salads and a few sides of soups. But if you find yourself there, you wouldn't be left starving.
Sip and dine!
Longhorn Steakhouse sports a pretty elaborate drinks menu too- from local and international beers to hand-crafted margaritas and signature cocktails. Plus, they’ve got an impressive array of red wine that pairs perfectly well with their steaks!
Is there a dress code?
For those wondering, Longhorn Steakhouse has a very casual and relaxed vibe. There’s no dress code to adhere to, so you can comfortably enjoy your steak in your jeans and T-shirt.
What about gift cards or reservations?
In terms of gifting a culinary experience, you can opt for a Longhorn Steakhouse gift card. And regarding reservations, they, unfortunately, do not cater to that. But a call ahead service is available allowing you to add your name to the waiting list.
