Let me take you on a journey. One where you walk into one of the best fast food locations I have ever visited: The Royal Castle. As soon as you step through the doors, you are greeted by their staff's characteristic smiles and a delicious aroma of fried chicken. I know I may sound a bit hyperbolic, but I'm telling you, it's an experience that's hard to beat!
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that this classic fast food joint has painstakingly designed its space to treat patrons like royalty. And yes, I am talking about the kind of royal treatment you'd expect to receive if you were, say, visiting the Buckingham Palace. Only, instead of a formal ballgown or a three-piece suit, you'd be in your comfy casuals, waiting to dig into some delicious fast food fare!
Royal Castle was born in 1998 in a small corner of Georgetown, Guyana. From that single chicken-focused restaurant, it has now grown exponentially to over 9 outlets and employs over 250 individuals! In addition to its signature chicken, the franchise now boasts two fast-food restaurants that serve lip-smacking options like burgers, pizza, and fish & chips. I mean, it's a rags to riches tale as delicious as their food!
So, what makes Royal Castle so special?
In a word, it's their genuine dedication to customer satisfaction. Not only is their food mouthwateringly delicious, it’s also made to order and ready in under 3 minutes, making it the perfect option for those always on the move. One dish I'll never forget is the "Royalty", their signature dish, which features fried chicken in a sweet and spicy sauce, served over rice with vegetables. And goodness me, it tastes nothing less than royal!
Great! But what about breakfast at Royal Castle?
Well, their breakfast menu is rather expansive with a variety of dishes such as country ham, fried pork chop, and beef liver, all served with grits and 2 eggs. It’s the perfect start to the day in my opinion. And for later meals, you have tantalizing options like the Southern Fried Catfish Dinner served with red beans & rice.
Hold up, do they serve pancakes?
Absolutely yes! Their breakfast is a treat, offering a range of items from pancakes to toast (or biscuits if that’s your thing) with your choice of coffee or tea. And the royal experience doesn’t end there. Oh no, it keeps impressing you with every bite.
So, what's there for dinner?
Dinner at Royal Castle is where the royal treatment takes a jump to the next level. In addition to their famed fried chicken, dishes like mashed potatoes, cornbread, and green beans grace the dining table. And for those with a sweet tooth, desserts such as ice cream sundaes and cheesecakes top off a hearty meal delectably.
Just how good is Royal Castle's Fried Chicken?
Oh, believe me, it’s literally finger-licking good - all crispy on the outside and deliciously juicy on the inside. Their coleslaw, a refreshing relief, but could use some work - a bit too generous with the mayo for my liking.
So, how many pieces of chicken do we get?
Well, you get to choose from 2 to 5-piece chicken meals, with each option coming with a side and your choice of bread. Yummy, right?
Indeed, their chicken tenders are among the most popular items on the menu. My personal favorite? The Original Recipe tenders, but you might also enjoy the Baja style if you're after a bit more spice in your meal.
Are there any family specials?
Believe you me, there's a special for everyone! Whether you're a small family of two or a large group of six, their range of family specials is sure to please. With just $32.99, you can get a sixteen-piece chicken dinner with six sides and a 2-liter Coca-Cola! Now, that's value for money!
Any other specials?
Apart from the regular menu, the restaurant offers an array of specials including Family Specials and the Royal Banquet. They even present lunchtime deals that are perfect for those on a budget.
What I really love about Royal Castle is their Local Favorite section. Each dish is a tribute to the local flavors, which means you get a totally different experience each time you visit a new location. Like the crispy Cajun in America might differ from the fried chicken sandwich you get in Thailand. It's part of the fun!
Wait, there's seafood too?
You bet there is! I highly recommend you try the breaded and fried Fish Sandwich or the Fish & Chips if you're a fan of seafood. For fellow shrimp lovers, the Shrimp Combo comes with fries and coleslaw, perfect for a filling meal.
