My Trip to Walk Ons
Let me take you through my experience at Walk Ons, a fantastic place that's open for both lunch and dinner, serving up Louisiana-inspired food that warmed my belly and satisfied my craving for something special. The vibe is fantastic with its well-stocked bars. It was an absolute treat as a sports fan, with over 70 large-screen TVs creating an electrified atmosphere!
It was great to learn from the staff that this place was started by Brandon Landry and Jack Warner back in 2003, right in the vicinity of LSU's Tiger Stadium. These two basketball buds from LSU carved out their dream on the back of a napkin while flying home from a game. It's a great testament to the phrase, 'started from the bottom, and now we’re here.' The restaurant's name, Walk Ons, was inspired by their experiences as unrecruited athletes, who were known as 'walk ons' at the university.

Locations of Walk Ons
I was happy to discover that Walk Ons is right across the US, with more than 100 branches in 15 states. It’s nice to know that I can have a taste of Louisiana wherever I am. I decided to use the location finder feature on their website to find the nearest branch to my home!
Food at Walk Ons
Jumping right into the Walk Ons menu, I found a whole range of appetizers that turned my excitement up a notch. From Boom Boom Shrimp to Cheeseburger Sliders and Waffle Cheese Fries, my taste buds were already having a party. I decided to order a few starters to munch on while watching the game.
As I ventured into the main course, I came across a plethora of mouth-watering dishes like salads, burgers, wraps, tacos, and an extensive array of sides. Being a lover of Louisiana cuisine, I couldn't resist trying out their Cajundillas – an amazing blend of chipotle tortilla, chicken, andouille sausage, boudin, caramelized onions, beans, and rice.
Feeling the hangover from the previous night's shenanigans catching up, I also ordered The Hangover Burger – a heavenly delight of a burger with a sunny-side-up egg and bacon, served on a brioche bun. Packed with flavor and accompanied by a side of waffle fries, it was just what I needed.
And like the cherry on top, my meal was made better with a plate of beignets for dessert. These deep-fried pastries reminded me of everything I cherish about Louisiana cuisine!
Operating Hours of Walk Ons?
Wedged perfectly into my schedule, Walk Ons works Sunday through Thursday from 11 am - 11 pm and stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Do check your local store's timings though, as they vary from location to location.
Is Walk Ons Vegetarian Friendly?
Although a meat lover's paradise, Walk Ons hasn't forgotten the plant-lovers. For vegetarians, options like the Veggie Burger and the opportunity to customize wraps into a vegetarian form are readily available. It's not the most diverse selection for vegetarians, but it's still something!
Loyalty Program at Walk Ons
One feature that immediately became a favorite was the Walk Ons loyalty program, which rewards customers with points for their expenditure in the restaurant. This, coupled with the enticing offer of a small cheese fry on sign-up and a free doughnut bread pudding on birthdays, was definitely a win!
