to choose from and it really got me excited to dig in. Do you know that Cook Out has quite an interesting history? I learned that it was founded in 1989 by Morris Reaves right in Greensboro, North Carolina. It grew from its first sit-in location in 1996 in High Point, North Carolina, to opening their first location outside of North Carolina in 2010 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. I can't help imagining how proud the founder must be. It struck me that Cook Out is much like a family business. It warmed my heart to discover that the founder's son, Jeremy Reaves, is currently the CEO! Where Can You Find Cook Out?

Mostly located in Southern region, they have almost 300 branches scattered across more than 100 cities in the United States. You can find them in states like North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Mississippi.

What Sets Cook Out Apart?

As I looked at my order, I marveled at the remarkable quality. Even though Cook Out works in the fast food industry, they ensure that all the meat served is 100% fresh and that it is cooked on the same day it is ground. The fact that they skip the freezing process got a big thumbs-up from me! The Tray combos were quite a deal. Imagine having the liberty to choose and customize your combo from different items at a price lesser than ordering them individually. Plus, they have milkshakes in over 40 different flavors! I was spoilt for choice and believe me, they are nectarous!

Can I Expect Some Heat?

I did find some of their selections like the Crispy Spicy Chicken Breast Fillet and the Cajun Chicken adding that much needed kick to my meal. But generally, their offerings aren't too spicy.

A Taste Adventure!

Burgers, milkshakes, and hot dogs were the highlights. I had the liberty to customize my burger just the way I wanted it and there were so many sauces and sides to choose from. And of course, their famous milkshakes in over 30 different flavors! Seriously, try their Mocha or the Peanut Butter flavor. Taste bud nirvana guaranteed!

Ordering at Cook Out

I could either go for an UberEats delivery or simply drive up to one of their branches. The only catch is that most of their branches only offer drive-thru service.

Vegetarian Options?

Being a meat lover, I wasn't bothered much but my vegetarian friend did find limited choice to pick from. Most of their major offerings are meat-based leaving the vegetarians to bank on sides like onion rings and fries. However, they excelled in their desert area offering a range of vegetarian milkshakes, cheesecakes, and coke floats.

Benefits of Being a Kid!

Although they didn't have a dedicated kid's menu, they did offer a Jr. Tray perfect for little munchkins with options to customize the meal.

Availability

Their usual timings are from 11 am to 4 am, every day of the week! Although, there might be some variations depending on the branch.

Health Check

Not necessarily the healthiest option on the block, they don't totally abandon the health conscious crowd either. There are options that are not too high on fats or calories but sodium levels might be a concern. The milkshake options again stood out with some healthier choices.

Can I Cook Out at Home?

Bummer, but no. Although I do plan on doing my own trial and error attempt at replicating their burgers. So my Cook Out visit was an eventful one. The food was good and I absolutely loved their milkshakes! I do, however, wish they had more indoor seating and healthier options.
